Gentle, grounding, all-levels yoga with horses!
This is a unique opportunity to practice being in your body in nature amidst these large, gentle, intuitive creatures (and other humans). Every posture will be optional, and there will be several horse specialists present to support our interaction with the horses. There will be a chair for each participant. We will use both the chair and practice standing poses. We will not be on the ground or mat as the horses will be wandering around in the circle with us. Up to 5 horses will join us in the circle and may or may not engage with participants.

What to bring: close-toed shoes, comfortable clothes, and a water bottle.
Parking: Try to arrive a few minutes early and enter the farm driveway nearest the Horse Time Sign. Park near the bottom of the hill.
Accessibility: We will practice atop a small, grassy hill. The ground is uneven in places. If you are in a wheelchair, your driver can deliver you directly to the circle and you can practice from your chair. Andy will offer modifications for postures and support all participants to show up in a way that serves themselves best.
Cost: Sliding scale: $15-45 per class date. (When you click to reserve your spot you can edit the amount you pay in the bottom box.) Profits shared between instructor, Horse Time CEC (host) and Kalamazoo Backyard Yogis (who is helping to promote).

Email andrea@groundedhere.com with questions.

FYI: In addition to my waiver below, you will need to sign a waiver with Horse Time CEC upon arrival.

Carrying On Together

: A Collective Care Retreat

September 18 – 20, 2026

Wilderness – Yoga – Skillshare

Space is limited to 7 participants. Location to be disclosed upon registration

Left: campfire and tents in Montana. Middle: Andy in goddess pose on L. Michigan. Right: hiking Michigan’s dunes.

This three day, two night gathering will cultivate a sense of listening, learning, sharing and knowing rooted in curiosity, care and presence. It will include a short backpacking journey, two nights of wilderness camping, a few yoga practices, campfires, free time and space for each participant to teach or share a skill that is meaningful to them.

It is a time to celebrate beginners mind and the wisdom we each uniquely carry. We will share sacred, playful, gritty space where we can practice loving our bodies, minds, and hearts. Together we will cultivate opportunities for collective wellbeing through movement, rest and sharing our skills, talents and resources.

Retreat includes:

  • pre-retreat conversation to prepare for our time together
    • Getting to know each other
    • packing suggestions, backcountry safety and leave no trace practices
    • Q&A
  • optional shared meals
  • yoga, mediation and breath work practices
  • facilitated reflection and connection
  • campfires and song circles
  • free time to rest, explore, and connect with self, others and nature
  • support for reintegrating after the retreat

Itinerary:

We will meet at the trailhead and start hiking by 1pm on Friday. Friday evening through Sunday morning we will be sharing meals, skills, yoga, conversations and enjoying free time. We will co-create the details when folks have registered and expressed the skill they want to share. We will arrive back at the trailhead by noon on Sunday, with the option to have lunch together at a cafe.

Participant Requirements:

  • Get yourself there — you are welcome to coordinate a carpool if you choose
  • Carry your own belongings for the retreat
  • Share a skill or offering with the group (ex: cook with us your favorite backcountry meal, teach a skill or creative process that empowers you, provide resources for connection with self, others and/or nature, clue us in on how you navigated a challenge – so we can try something new, myth bust a topic we may know too little about)
  • Honor your needs and respect the needs of others and our collective

Ways to prepare:

  • Secure your gear — once you register I will send a list including ways to rent what you don’t have
  • Communicate your needs with those impacted by your departure
  • Create ample space in your schedule to prepare and return
  • Let your support system people know you may want to process what comes up
  • Email andrea@groundedhere.com with questions or fill out form below.

Cost: $200-400 sliding scale. Potential work trade available. Please inquire below.

Location disclosed upon sign up. Space is limited to 7 participants. Minimum 4 participants.
