Beat-The-Heat-Smoothly Smoothie

Makes: One, 12oz Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 3/4 C water (I prefer warm, see below)
  • 1 medium size cucumber
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 massive handful fresh mint leaves
  • 1 moderate handful cilantro leaves
  • 1 cup wild huckleberries (or local/native berry to your region)
  • Juice of one lime
  • 1 tsp. freshly grated ginger
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk (or 1/4 C coconut cream, 1/4 C water)

Instructions: 

Combine all ingredients in blender & blend to your liking:)

 

Why I love it:

I first made this smoothie when struggling with some inflammatory issues in my digestive tract. It was late winter/early Spring and cold food wasn’t appealing. I always add room temperature or even warm water instead of cold or ice water to balance out the frozen fruits. I felt like I was honoring my body without getting a brain freeze or feeling undernourished. I hope you enjoy!
